Neutrals

If they cannot accomplish that simple task I wouldn't even call them an electrician. Having said that I can see it happening in certain places where unskilled hacks are the norm.
I don't disagree with you, but the NEC rule, like many others is only "necessary" to protect people like that in the first place. To me, it is really just another superfluous rule.

I was commenting more on strathead's the mention that his local electricians struggle to even match the proper neutral to the phase conductors. Truth is it's very easy to forget about the danger of a neutral with a MWBC even for seasoned electricians. I know of several coworkers who were injured by shared neutrals. One who almost died and is permanently disabled from working on an energized 480/277 volt MWBC.

I will have to take issue with this notion. It defeats the safety feature that is the reason for requiring handle ties in the first place.
It is my opinion that because of the realities of the real world, multi pole breakers/handle ties on MWBC's cause more risk than they prevent because frequently us electricians will just decide to work a circuit hot instead of dealing with the hassle of finding what the other circuits do, whether it's okay to turn them off, get permission, notify people, come in on a night or weekend, etc. I know I have done that countless times.

We hope. Unfortunately I can see a handle tie or two in my pocket or in the box of items removed from pockets before washing. I grew up with MWBCs. Know the dangers, but stuff happens.
....That feeling of panic when at the end of the day you pull a handle tie out of your pocket. You run back to the job in your underwear to put it back on, but its too late, dead electricians all over the job site ⚰️ 😂

Exactly!!

Unfortunately, it may be weeks before those items next to the washer make their way to the 'get them out of my house!' box.

Ya but you better be dang carful if working hot that the guy before you made the nuetral connection correct or your buying some equipment lol

You are more fortunate than me. EVERY time there was something in my pocket my wife feels the need to inform me in detail, the object, the sounds it made if and and the potential long term damage to here washing machine.

I lost laundry privileges at a girlfriend's house a while back because all the stuff that would come out of my pockets 😞
