We have a 3 phase, 3 wire, 480V 1200A switchboard with two, 3000A circuit breakers and several branch CB feeders. I'm told a CB lift 'truck' is required for removal of the two large CB's. However, I'm not able to find any info on this equipment. Also, I'm not sure how much frontal space is needed for extraction. The SWBD is 38" deep overall, and the front of the SWBD is approximately 5 feet from a concrete wall - not sure if this is enough room. Does anyone have experience with this installation.

While it depends on the breaker manufacturer, these are not much more than slightly modified standard equipment lifts.
You typically roll the lift in front of the breaker so 5 ft should be okay. One of the typical modifications is to have rails on the lift and some type of restraining mechanism.

Are you always working on deenergized breaker cubibles? If not, as bang mentioned there are models are use on live circuits in order to comply with NFPA70E

These are the ones we have... good luck!
