I have a friend with an old GE panel and I am trying to find some replacement breaker for his asap, but dont know what would work. The lable doesn't give any alternate breakers and just says "use G.E types TQP, TQL or TQAL circuit breakers". After doing research i have found that GE THQL1115 breakers would fit, but can't find any locally and its a bit of a rush. Was wondering if there are any other brands like seinens or Eaton that would work to replace these.

GE is pretty common, most mom and pop hardwares carry them if there is not a Home Depot or Lowe’s or Ace nearby.
The only ones I've been able to find at those shops are the slim THQP115 ones which I found didn't fit properly.. I was looking at some Eaton CL universal breakers and thinking that might work, but I'm really not sure.

Welcome to the forum.

No, stick with GE breakers.
Thank you!

I want to stick with GE but, my buddy is just in a rush and wants to get power and lights back in the basement. I saw some Eaton CL breakers that might fit, and other GE panels say they fit so was thinking of trying that unless its a really bad idea....

If you have an HD or Lowes they stock GE/ABB breakers. Very easy to find in many small hardware stores too. Very common breakers.
FYI GE electrical equipment is now known as ABB.

Homeline fits pretty much everybody’s using that type of buss, but probably not listed for that panel.

Says "use G.E types TQP, TQL or TQAL circuit breakers".
I did a panel with similar markings and eventually got a letter from Eaton saying
that there was a continuous line of design through Byrant to Eaton type BR. What's most important is a tight fit. Eaton BR for example is too loose on Seimens: only Eaton CL and Connecticut Electric will fit right (Connecticut Electric since they are private label Siemens).

In Theory TQAL and THQL are not listing compatible. Physically and electrically they're fine, but that persnickety listing....

Call Southland Electrical in Burlington, NC. They carry lots of obsolete parts, also rebuild some equipment. 336-227-1486.

Here is a link that may help. I use them all the time. https://www.jrlelectricsupplyinc.com/collections/thql-plug-in-1

TQL breakers were only rated for 5K. THQL are rated for 10K which is the lowest standard rating now so the TQL's no longer exist. There is no problem installing a higher rated breaker.

My local AHJ gets cranky if the specific breaker type is not printed on the panel label.
Maybe it's only the one inspector, but he'll check every damn time. He defends it saying he's not qualified to determine if TXXX is equivalent to TYYY. And in some cases it can indeed be tricky.
