ESE Lightning System - Allowed Countries

I can't speak for other than the USA, but here, the lightning protection system is optional, so you can put it in if you want. Because it is not referenced in NFPA 780, most licensed Engineers will not allow it because there is no US based consensus standard that speaks to it.
 
Actually ESE systems have been shown to be false advertising as far as their claims are concerned
 
There was a number of attempts to add ESE lighting protection to NFPA 780. This triggered huge debates on the effectiveness of that system as well as of the traditional "Franklin" system. There was no clear technical and scientific data that either system worked so in July of 2000 the NFPA Standards Council published a notice of intent to withdraw NFPA 780.
It appears that some other action was taken, as I can't find evidence that NFPA 780 was ever actually withdrawn.
