Funny you should mention that...
I have done that doing relay testing.

115 kV relay testing.. knocked the whole area out (3 substations)

Took a few years to live that one down..
Couldn't deny when asked “what did you do!”
Oh I've had my incidents where something left the entire building or a feeder or something similar without power.

The problem is that when something goes wrong the lawyers sue everyone that had anything to do with the situation that might possibly have some responsibility.

Yep. Still have a lawsuit going that was filed last year over an injury where a customer of the business said a board was dropped on his head. I wasn’t even there the day it allegedly happened, but still being sued for being on the permit. And the incident itself happened in 2017. Guy waited two years to the day to file, which I was told is the statute of limitations.

This maximizes the chance for every contractor to have shredded or pitched any relevant information like sign-in sheets, work logs, etc. which will leave it as a "he-said, she-said" sort of issue, which is exactly the sort of issue no lawyer for an insurance company wants to see in front of a jury.

Is your GL policy covering attorney fees?

Can you share how to check a GL policy, to make sure attorney fees are covered?

Your GL policy is defending itself, so generally yes your legal fees are covered, but you need to check w/ your insurer.

The plaintiff's fees may not be covered, and you should find that out, because in the case of the suit I mentioned above it was not covered, and was around $50k.

We lost a 7 figure lawsuit last year because a couple of employees committed a crime in a company vehicle while off the clock.
When my rivals sick OSHA, Worker's Comp.,
and license boards on me, after the investigations they all tell me how lucky I am that I don't have employees.

I believe you have brought new meaning to how bad employees can be.
