This is more of a observation rather than Question but correct me if I am wrong? A while Back I Renting a rotary hammer drill to drive ground rods from (Home Depot). The Only Attachment they had for this was for 1/2" Rods. Guess What they sell 1/2" Rods..... According to the code, rod type grounding electrodes have to be a minimum size of 5/8". Is this just one more way for them to sell cheaper product even though it is illegal...........?

You can have a UL listed 1/2" rod.

Unless I am missing something or it has been changed for 2014.

It's still the code. You can use a 1/2" rod but as you said, it must be a listed rod.

To the OP: You can get drivers for 5/8" rods, which is more common, and a few other sizes. You just have to do a little searching for anything other than a 5/8".

If it is 1/2" and listed it should be stamped on it. The stamped end is usually about 6" from the end of the rod.
