10,000 Volt splices/wirenuts

Do any of you know of any 10,000 volt splice krimp/ or wirnuts??? For neon signs, I know they make something for this, just do not think its called wirenuts.

Whatever, but do you know of any thats for 10,000 volts or more?? Just curious as for the leads from the transformer to connect to the neon lights

Are you sure you really need a 10K volt splice? Most neon cable splicers and splice enclosures I've ever seen are 7500 volt rated. Reason being, when you think you're looking at a 15K volt transformer, you're really looking at 7500 volts to midpoint. (like 277/480)

Well the transformer says actually says 9,000 volts secondary, and the insulation on the wire leads from are rated at 15,000. So i just 10,000 as a round number, but I know that the average wire nuts are only rated at 600 volts max. Just thought there would be be some other type of wirenut/connectors that im not aware of for this type of connection.

Im curious as to why do they have to make these small neon signs for this high of voltage.

This is what the "real" GTO cable splice looks like, but I'm pretty sure they're only 7500 volt rated. Sign guys call it a pill bottle splice. I've never seen one that was more than that. That 9,000 volt transformer rating sounds more like open circuit voltage. They shut down automatically if the circuit goes open.

The last time I was involved in wiring a sign it did not use neon at all but had a whole bunch of small electronic transformers, connected to LED lighting in the sign presumably.

Because it takes a high voltage to excite the electrons in the neon and other gases used.
