Can someone school me on medium voltage? Some questions may sound obvious but I want to hear your response anyway

1. Practical difference between pulling 5kV and 15kV
2. Which one is cheaper material and which one is more common?
3. Any reason why you couldn't use 15kV conductors when 5kV is called out?
4. Termination time associated with 5kV and 15kV load break elbows
5. Are load breaks / rubber goods the only items required to term?
6. Describe this cable: 4"C: 3-1/C, #350, 5kV EPR, COPPER MV105, #2BC
7. Is bare copper run separate of the conductors in the same conduit in question above?
8. Describe the designator "MV105" or "MV10" mean?
9. When is it required to splice a conductor if it doesn't term on a load break elbow?
10. What is associated with a splice? Describe labor hours and materials required.
... ok one more
11. Database has shielded, non-shielded, 100%, and 133%... can someone explain?

Thanks!

I have only worked with MV a few times, so take this with a grain of salt:

I think 15 KV class is very common. You might have trouble finding 5KV concentric cable. In fact, I dont think they even make 5KV class load break elbows -they start at 15KV. A 2.4/4160 tranny will have 15 KV bushings (or at least they are compatible with 15KV elbows which is all you will find).

Sounds like someone wants help with homework? What are your thoughts on questions?

Tough crowd :p
My questions usually are purpose driven but I know I asked a bunch... here's what I think. Maybe help if I don't understand something correctly?

1. Practical difference between pulling 5kV and 15kV
Rating of cable. Per database it appears ~25-30% more labor. this is a pull not a term
2. Which one is cheaper material and which one is more common?
Based on pricing received 5kV is cheaper. I was told 15kV is more common. It sounds like electrofelon agrees.
3. Any reason why you couldn't use 15kV conductors when 5kV is called out?
I wouldn’t think this would create issue other than costing more
4. Termination time associated with 5kV and 15kV load break elbows
I’m just adding load break cost and 1.5 hrs which is generous per our crew
5. Are load breaks / rubber goods the only items required to term?
I think so but that’s why I’m asking
6. Describe this cable: 4"C: 3-1/C, #350, 5kV EPR, COPPER MV105, #2BC
Maybe this is a stupid question which is why it hasn’t garnered a response. Conduit, single conductors, conductor size and type of cable, Cu (see question 8), and the EGC
7. Is bare copper run separate of the conductors in the same conduit in question above?
Based on discussions it sounds like they simply pull in bare ground
8. Describe the designator "MV105" or "MV10" mean?
I haven’t the slightest
9. When is it required to splice a conductor if it doesn't term on a load break elbow?
I suppose if it exceeded 1K’. I was told you can get hardware in a hand hole to mount two load breaks in lieu of a linear type splice. I have to look that up. Doesn’t apply at the moment.
10. What is associated with a splice? Describe labor hours and materials required.
Time and labor ?
... ok one more
11. Database has shielded, non-shielded, 100%, and 133%... can someone explain?
I think shielded 100% is common. The EE didn’t specify other than call out above. I’m just curious as to what circumstances each would apply
