Amazing the variance of hours I've seen and been told over the years that it takes to install panels. Yes I know there are factor that effect labor....other trades working on top of you in room, panel located in isolated location from work area, surface, recessed etc. etc. so I'll try to keep it simple.

100A Main breaker panel. Need to install back box, trim/cover, interior and need to lace in(one wire are pulled in), tag and terminate #10's on (42) 1P 20A breaker long with neutral and grounds. The labor should also include receiving the panel and bringing to location which is within reasonable distance 500'.
Lets assume it's surface mounted but the strut is already installed on the wall.

I've heard anywhere from 7 to 15 hours from people over time.

In my opinion it's about ~3-4 min to tag, strip and term each wire so that's ~5.5 hours if you consider all the neutrals and pulling one ground per homerun. Now the back box, interior trim and cover should take another ~1-1.5 hours.

I think more or less it's roughly 6-8 hours. I also understand that working on a residential house job as opposed to a big commercial job may affect this somewhat.
Any thoughts.

there is also a wide variation in how efficiently people work and how skilled they are at certain tasks.

some guys might be much better at terminating wires than running pipe.

does this panel enclosure have knock-outs or is it stainless steel and I have to cut all the holes?

Are the breakers snap in or bolt in?

interiors(guts) we get already have breakers attached. K/O's already there.

If you have everything needed on the job then it should go pretty quick. Looking for parts can take up lots of time. The actual time to mount and terminate shouldn't be over 4-6 hours. If you don't want it neat it can be done faster.

We are talking about an experience journeyman or better doing the work and not a green helper or young apprentice. The work is not hard so an older and more eperienced hand can normally work faster.

if you have two men on the job it still takes the same amount of time because there is little for the second guy to do except talk on the phone or get in the workers way. If working T&M it could take a lot of billable time.

Thanks. I think 1 guy a day( 7 hours) is fair.
