12/2 NM transition to Wiremold surface metal raceway

I have a wiring job where I need to transition a 12/2 NM cable running behind a wall to a wiremold surface mount raceway (SMR). Do I need an adapter/rigid coupling/NM clamp setup or can I just run the NM cable right into the end of the SMR?

I'll tell you another secret that I do but don't tell anyone, Okay.

If the nm cable comes out close to a corner I will slide the back out of the wiremold and cut it off just enough so I can get my nm to lay flat. I cut the wiremold long enough to hit the adjacent wall.

I've used that fitting before with BX but not with NM. I'm wondering if I need a transition adapter to go from NM to the SMR according to the NEC. I have about a 3/4" hole to work with in which I'd need to put the SMR through. So if I need an adapter I'm going to have to come up with a different wiring method since any adater will be too big to put through the hole.

Yes, That's what I meant by NM connector---assumed it was small cable---

What series raceway are you using . .. 500, 700.etc?

I believe that last one will work. If you look closely at it the circle is not round. For 700 wiremold you can break out that section at the top-- if you need the space. You wont need to do that with 12/2nm
 
Don't think a fitting is made for your app. according to manufacturer wiremold isn't listed for use with nm, single stranded only.

I don't think that is an issue. You could always strip the nm and run the conductors in the raceway, however I don't believe that is necessary.
