Hello ,

we just installed a 600amp 3phase 120/208v service and are in the beginning stages of installing a 1200amp 3phase 120/208v service however the electrical co-op has informed us that we can tap onto the load side of our 600amp disconnect to feed a 1200amp disconnect and panel. Is this even possible? If someone could point me in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated as I have personally never heard of anyone feeding a larger service from a smaller service

I even confirmed they said load side but I don’t see how thats possible. However if we did come off the line side of the disconnect we would in turn need to beef up 600amp trans socket that houses both our CT and meter base correct?

None of that makes any sense. If you have a line side disconnect, you are required to install adequately sized conductors from the line side of your disconnect to the power company's service point whereever that is located..
Do you know what the present load is on the 600 amp service ?

Correct we have 350mcm parallel from top of disconnect through CT and up to service point. Load is just over 400amps
