120V from 240V/208 Single Phase

Is there any reason why I could not tap the hot and neutral from a 2P breaker and feed a 1P breaker. I've seen this done in the past, but I want to ensure there is not a code issue here. My gut tells me there is....

I can't think of any particular reason. If you are connecting directly to the two pole breaker, the rating of the lugs (as far as number of wires & range) could be an issue.

In your thread title, did you mean to say "120V from 240/120 single phase"? There is no such thing as a 240/208 volt system.

I did wonder too but then I realised you guys use quite a mixture of voltages. We Brits are used to it being simpler.
I like simple.

Not as long as a grounded conductor (neutral) is present.
