we are still on 05 code.
the reason for two circuits is
the guy wants 12 recpts,6 recessed and two ceiling fans
and i like to feed each room separate if possible
looks like the rooky pipe out side house or no afci...

I sure dont like the idea of a panel in the attic. Even if it has stairs and meets 110.26 the heat will likely destroy the new arc faults. What are the chances of taking some of the load off of the attic light. That was a trick i used often to get out of a jam.

Is this an unconditioned space? It appears it is a bedroom , etc. The panel can be in the bedroom or den (whatever the other room is).

This brings me to ask how is this space being heated and/or cooled?

ok i was not thinking of it that way. Sure if you put the panel in one of the rooms then i am cool with it. As to the heating and cooling perhaps the AC man can up size the unit.

sub panel... off what the 14/3 ??
cant do that...violation...branch circuit extension so i was years ago

I have trying to figure this out ,.. did you mean

"so was I years ago"
or

that someone has used this circuit to feed other outlets on the way to the attic??

If you do a load calc. I would be surprised if it required 2 circuits.

As far as the sub panel goes ,.. what is the concern???

Well,.. I guess he never read the definitions of Feeder and branch circuit..
I think this is a fine idea,.. and will probably become a bit more employed as people will/ do have less money for panel change outs and rewires to comply with 210.12 ,... compliant creativity just might get you the job:smile:

i was looking in feeders ,min size in the 02 code.
i didn't think you could run less then 10"s to feed any sub.
at least thats what I've always done....
