You can have one 15 amp gfci on a 20 amp circuit because it has two plugs."
This was probably not the time to tell him that it has two receptacles, but NO plugs.

We will all get lots of practice when he pulls out his code book on the next job he inspects for you. Remember to cross your staples and dot your stackers on his turf.Hey ,it's cool and saved you a trip. Maybe he wanted a way to save face, thats cool too. He probably has no idea just what this would have cost you. Invite him to join.
Im sorry but Im also having a brain faid if he assumed you ran 15 amp wire wouldnt he had you change the breaker to 15 amp not the plug to 20.
I think Jim was right in that he was just trying to save face.Im sorry but Im also having a brain faid if he assumed you ran 15 amp wire wouldnt he had you change the breaker to 15 amp not the plug to 20.

There's that word again.![]()
rob, you may have to work this out in therapy.... to the unwashed masses of
humanity, and some electricians, that thingy over on the wall there is a "plug".
we "plug something in"... we don't generally "receptacle something in".
i do, however, feel your pain.......
You're right we plug something in. The plug is on the end of the cord not in the wall.![]()
"Hey that grounded conductor is loose!"
(Deer-in-headlights-look)
"Secure that white wire right there."
"Duh.....okay"
Maybe only a dollar more, but totally unnecessarily. What do you need the T-slot for?My 2 cents....I just read the section and would have to go with a 20A GFI duplex receptacle there. Thats what I put in my bathrooms on a dedicated 20a circuit. Like a dollar more.

The only difference between 15a and 20a receptacles of a given grade is the slot shape.
