Hey guys. So today I was tasked with climbing a stadium light tower to replace 4 1500W Metal Halide bulbs. The current bulbs were not firing fully so the owners asked for bulbs to be replaced. We changed the 4 that they wanted and when we turned the breakers on, they cycled off within 3-4 minutes(not reaching full brightness). I really don’t do too much work with HID fixtures but it seems to me like ballasts are bad?? I don’t know why all 4 would short cycle. Anyone with some experience enlighten me on this please so I can climb back up ONCE more and not 5-6 times.

I would have gone up there with 4 lamps and 4 ballast/igniter kits. :happyyes:

I won't even climb a 16' extension ladder to just change an HID bulb. I change everything using the kit, ballast, igniter, cap, etc. Doesn't look good to the customer to change out a bulb and a week later it won't light again.
