I'd give anything to have that! Tell me where to send the money and I?ll even come help you take it down!!!

I volunteer at the Edison home and museum in Fort Myers Florida. Of the 1,000 or so pieces in the home and museum, my favorite item is the vintage electrical service form the 1920's in the laboratory. Edison himself installed it....

Great pics! Thanks!

The Edison Home was the most memorable part of my last trip to FL. Truly incredible.

Several years back i remember a tv show that was about edisons house, in it they said that there was still the original bulb still working from the time it was installed. Is this still the situation, still working today?

No. This may be true at his other home or lab in New Jersey, but nothing like that here.

We have the largest single collection of vintage Edison Phonographs at any one location in the US, several of Edison's and Ford's vehicles, many early dynamos and switchboards, hundreds of other invention pieces, and the lab/home contents are all original. The lab's lighting is original however most if not all lamps have been replaced with replicas or modern versions.

That's really neat. A example of the type of quality craftsmanship that used to go into installations (and sometimes still does).
I've got a pretty good collection of old (odd ball) switches and receptacles that I've accumulated from old houses.
Some of the switches lasted 50+ years before finally failing. Some of them still work...the owner just wanted a "quiet" one or a different color.
The replacements will never stand the test of time.
This is "Americana" at it's best.
