Anyone have the exact verbiage of 1993 NEC 370.23?
I have handbook but it does not state the articles, only the interpretation.
Thanks,
Tim

I have the book but I haven't got a way to scan the section. I'm sure that 480sparky will be able to help.

What handbook do you have? My NEC code hand book has the exact verbage and sections the same as the standard NEC.The NEC is in light blue color and the interpertations are in black.

Tshea, I posted this in the other thread.

In the 1993 NEC this requirement is located in 370-23(g).

Here is what it says:

Pendant Boxes. Boxes shall be supported from a multiconductor cord or cable in an approved manner that protects the conductors against strain, such as a strain relief connector threaded into a box with a hub.

He has the McGraw-Hill handbook and that does not have the code. When Joe McPartland was the editor of that handbook, I found it to be far superior to the NFPA one. Now I don't see much difference in the interpretations between the two and the NFPA one does, as you say, contain both the code text and the comments.

Which part of 370.23?
(a) Surface mounting
(b) Structural mounting
(c) Nonsctructural mounting
(d) Raceway supported enclosure(s) Without devices or fixtures
(e) Raceway supported enclosure(s) With devices or fixtures
(f) Enclosure(s) in concrete or Masonry
(g) Pendant boxes.

This question was part of another thread dealing with pendant boxes. That is why I posted the wording of 370-23(g).

Thanks everyone. Seems the installation is definately a code violation. I just wonder how many drops have been installed over the years. Most of the electricians I know think these are code compliant.
The Woodhead box is code compliant, the 4 square with raised cover is not.

At least the duplex is properly mounted to the raised cover.
