I have a job wiring a tiny breakfast nook (it use to be a side doorway). It is so small it only needed one plug and I added one light. I did it all in 12 ga.

However the insp. said each one should be on a seperate circuit. Is he right
and just not using common sense along with the code?

You might want to read 210.52 (B)(1) & (2)

The two don't always go in the same brain. Technically he is correct, the receptacle should be on the small appliance circuit and not the light. Go figure. At least its a small room it wont take much to run in another lead for the lighting.

He is 100% correct.Breakfast nook might likely have coffee maker and toaster and if the light went out from tripped breaker you might burn yourself with hot coffee and then sue him for allowing this.LOL.I hope he let it go but in reality the ec that did it right would loose the bid.
