2 motors on single branch circuit

We have an installation that calls for a 15hp 480V motor to be connected to a size 2 starter. This is a conveyor motor. There is also a second brake motor on this conveyor which is about .5hp and is specified to be tapped of the branch circuit for the 15hp motor.

In seeing this specifiecation I am wondering if this is code compliant? I looked through 430.53 and everything that I saw regarding multiple motors on a single branch circuit require a seperate overload device for each motor. It this brake motor is installed by being tapped off the main motor brance circuit then how is it protected from an overload?

Am I right in thinking this installation is not correct and citing 450.53 to the design engineers?

If it is in fact a "motor" then I would think your concern is justified and comments correct. I've installed many a motor which had an electro-mechanical brake which was factory connected at the motor peckerhead.
