We've been installing 2?" pipe over 2" schedule 80 to meet 300.5 (J) requirements. Local inspector is forcing me to replace slip fittings citing violation of 110.3 (B). All our fittings are UL listed materials. In reviewing manufacturer specs on pre-fab fittings, all parts are made from UL listed materials. I do not see a code violation here. Any advice welcome.

The AHJ is correct. A coupling is not the same as a slip fitting, and conduit is not a coupling.

The key is listed in accordance with the instructions.

Granted, your installation is most likely safe and will work without any problems, the AHJ has got you on this one.

Why is it that there is such an emphasis by some people in "getting" someone else?

Odd, I thought my emphasis was on listed in accordance with the instructions.

Re: 2?" PVC over 2" PVC as slip fitting

Originally RNC fittings just had to be approved. The 2002 changed that to listed.
I guess that so much hokey jury rigging was done that the CMP felt all fittings should be listed.

I'm not saying what you did was hokey.

I hope they gave you a grace period to work in the change from something they have accepted all this time.
