200 amp meter or 100 amp meter?

Can you use a 200 amp meter pedestal(undergound feed) for a 100 amp service? The only difference I can think of is the lugs are bigger.

In my area, the PoCo mandates the use of a 200 A meter socket, even when the service is smaller. The PoCo gives me a very short list of meter sockets that they approve and will connect to.

The internal bypass mechanism is a big part of the reason why.
