Re: 2005 NEC Handbook

Thanks Guys's

Cal isn't on the 2005 yet so I've been "living" with the online version. But it appears I'll be working in some out of state jurisdictions for a while so I need to spring for it. Living without some of my previous percs where I'd get it free is a little shocking. I've never paid for an NEC or handbook before in my life. Ahh well, I did get the members discount and its a business deduction.

rbalex,
Outside of the factor of discount pricing.I'm still weighing the plusses of being a NFPA Member.I spent a many hundred dollar bills with them last year for texts.

My chief electrical inspector told me that years back if you called the NFPA in regards to a Code question, there was a gentleman that would answer the question,no matter where he happen to be at the time.Even if he was standing in a airport, waiting on a plane in way of connecting flights, and answering question by way of his cell-phone.

Also heard this one gentleman,is no longer avalible for such..So, I can't testify in way of this technical support, being a non-member.So I am in the wondering about level of technical support.

As far as cost of books/text..Going to get a return at tax-time for cost of texts being work-related,just like my tools.Right down to the much needed work-boots too..Not a problem in cost..get it in return..

Edited:-Can't help but notice this on-going debate in another thread about "cost"..

Re: 2005 NEC Handbook

Over the years I've had the opportunity to consult with just about everyone on then NFPA Electrical Engineering Staff and several on the Hazardous Chemicals Staff. It has always been a positive experience. Many of my own interpretation techniques have been developed through those discussions.

In over thirty years, I've only had one glitch. I had two written, diametrically-opposed, Technical (not Formal) Interpretations. It was our own John Caloggero who provided the tie-breaker.

Yes,
I've have seen the distinguished Mr. Caloggero's posting in form, and do take notice in his reply posting in threads..At the time of first seeing his name in form, I had to look over a the cover of the Handbook on my desk.( I had never owned a Handbook before "05) In seeing his name as one of the "four authors" on the cover. My hat is off to Mr.Caloggero, for rolling up his sleeves, and taking the time in joining us in form...

Re: 2005 NEC Handbook

Gee, I was pleased to hear all the compliments on the NFPA 2005 NEC Handbook. The 2005 edition is probably the last one I'll work on. I'm sure NFPA's Mark Earley would love to hear your comments on the Handbook. It's nice to get accolades instead of criticism. Thanks again.
