2006 IECC - Theater Lighting

Is there an exception for theater lighting in the IECC 2006 code?

We are designing a church that is using theater lighting for their platform. If we include all of the theater fixtures, it will exceed the lighting power density allowance.

What is the common 2006 IECC code interpretation for theater lighting loads?

No exception that I see. You might want to discuss this with the local building official. I'd look at ASHRAE 90.1. 2006 IECC rticle 501 allows the use of ASHRAE 90.1, which has more area types and more reasonable wattage allowances on many cases.
