2011 NEC 250.64(C)(2) Continuous GEC

I appologize if this topic has been addressed. Here's a scenario. A GEC comes into a NEMA 3R panel from a PV array. If I terminate it on the busbar, can I start a new stranded wire in the busbar to take into the disconnect?... or am I only simply allowed to strip the sheathing back and simply "pass" the wire through the busbar? What exactly is 250.64(c)(2) saying? Thanks in advance for any feedback!

If the intended GEC connection point is in the disconnect, which I surmise it is, you cannot terminate the GEC to a grounding bus in another enclosure, then use another wire to jumper to the disconnect.

Need more info about your system before making any recommendation on connecting the GEC at this other enclosure. Typical grounding of such is handled using an EGC.

What exactly is 250.64(c)(2) saying?

When bus bar is the GEC, it can be extended by bolting bus bar together (i.e. it does not have to be welded). It does not mean you can use the bus bar as a splicing terminal bar to extend the GEC.
