Great, now US customs not only will need to look for drugs, but illegal light bulbs, or even illegal light bulbs with drugs inside them.
They at some date even be used as currency for bribing customs officials. "Hey bud, do things flicker at your place? Feel like you live in a labratory? I might know where you might be able to get some MR-16's for that 1990's remodel you did..." ;)

CA has this set of energy codes that require vacancy sensors in bathrooms now. People pay good money to get rid of them...

Oh - on this same topic - this evening I did an estimate for up-grading the circuit for a range... Looking for the nameplate of the existing I saw a CFL in the oven - melted.... Good thing its on its way out...

CFL...It's what's for dinner!

This thread reminds me of something I did in the '90s. When they stopped making "R" lamps and were making "BR" lamps to take their places, I bought a whole case of "R-30," 100 watt floods for a particular fixture that I used to install a lot! The R-30, 100 watters became BR-30, 85 watters, the R-30, 75 became BR-30, 65, etc. So this is not the first time the government has mandated changes. I remember we were all thinking the sky was falling and they would reverse the decision after a while, but there it is! Not only the Reflector Floods, look at the F-40 T12 lamps that became 34w T-12 and then 32w T-8! "The times, they are a-changin'!" It will be OK!:)

I agree.. people pay to remove the vacancy sensors from their bathrooms regularly.. CA title 24 also says now that we must use at least 50% of kitchen lighting as energy efficient. In other words we really cant use any incandescent anymore in kitchens... and bedrooms are now required to have dimmers or be energy efficient bulbs. The bad thing for an electrical contractor like myself is it is costing us more and more money every year to wire a residential property and people are only getting cheaper and cheaper with this economy the way it is..
