2017 and Cable Ties

I just caught this-- article 320 and 330. I am sure it is elsewhere. Has anyone seen cable ties listed for wiring and if so how are they different?

330.30 Securing and Supporting.
(A) General. Type MC cable shall be supported and secured
by staples; cable ties listed and identified for securement and
support; straps, hangers, or similar fittings; or other approved
means designed and installed so as not to damage the cable.

My guess is that they don't want you using the cheapo inferior ones from the dollar store or Harbor Frieght.

I have a hard time with this because, you get to 330.30(D), there are provisions for unsupported cables.
To me it makes no sense to have "listed & identified" when there are exceptions.
Just my humble rant.

Most of the ones that I have seen that are compliant with this rule have a metal locking tab, not a plastic one.

I doubt the listing requirements have anything to do with mechanical parameters. It would most likely be about toxic smoke plastics such as in article 725.

They make plenum rated cable ties so I am not sure that is the issue.

The listing requirements do include mechanical parameters.

UL Certifies (Lists) Cable Ties to product category ZODZ. HERE is a link to the guide information for these products.

Within the guide information it states;

Type 2S and Type 21S — Type 2S and Type 21S products meet the same requirements as Type 2 and Type 21 products, respectively, but have been additionally investigated for use as primary support for a flexible conduit, flexible tubing, or cable in accordance with the NEC. Such products may also be marked "Support" in lieu of the "S" designation.
