Do large fountains have same Class A requirements as swimming pools? From what I'm reading it sounds like yes.

If not, is an elevated trip GFCI device (10ma, 20ma, 30ma) capable of obtaining UL approval? UL943C?

Project background:
Requirements for Fountain in Houston, Texas; 30A 240V 3PH - most likely 20mA (Needing UL approval).

200+ motors, also using VFD's. From personal experience GFCI's and VFD's can be a complete nightmare due to 490-590% starting current and motor HP rating.

Maybe the local AHJ would be okay with CSA listing?

What difference would a CSA listing make? The CSA listing with the US on it, the only one accepted here, lists to the same product standard as does UL or any other testing lab that is listing the equipment for use in the US.

Thanks don_resqcapt19, my thoughts are the same as UL/CSA have harmonized standards. Digging further, NEC labels "listed device" and does not specify needing UL approval, so this is good news. Now it's up to the OEM!
