I have a customer that purchased a compressor with a 3 phase 10hp motor with a nameplate rating of 208-230. The electric service is a 240 volt 3 phase with a high leg. Does anybody know if the motor will work properly and not burn up.

Corey, welcome to the forum! :)

Yes, many of us know that the motor will work properly and not burn up. (Of course, this is predicated upon the motor and its wiring functioning properly.)

The motor does not care which, if any conductor is grounded, nor about the voltage from any conductor to ground and/or the system neutral; only line to line.

That's the advantage of a high-leg Delta. It's a 240v 3ph supply superimposed on a 120/240v 1ph supply, and can be used as either or both simultaneously.

Thank you

Thank you

I am unfamilIar with 240v high leg system and was unsure and wanted to be safe. The other thing that threw me off was the name namplate said only 208 -230 so I figured with it being 240 a higher voltage that the motor was not rateD for it.
