Does 210-11 (C ) mean that one must or ?shall? include these items in the calculated load even if a dwelling unit does not have a laundry?

210.11

210.11

I agree w/ Dennis, 210.11 is what is required as branch circuits, Art. 220 is for the actual calculations for those branch circuits. If the dwelling unit doesn't have laundry facilities you wouldn't have to include them in your load calc's. IMHO

Thanks guy's but please notice; 220-16(B) it actually led me to 210-11(C)(2) & 210-52(F) which state the laundry circuit "shall be provided" & "shall be installed". I can understand this in new construction as being required but I am trying to qualify an existing dwelling calculated load. And because this dwelling is existing and without a laundry I may not have to account for a laundry that does not exist in the load calculation ? to qualify the service - but my instincts tell me to go ahead and allow for it.

What do ya think?

210.52(F) says you must install an outlet for the laundry, and there are no exceptions for single family units. 210.11(C)(2) says you must install a 20 amp circuit, to serve that laundry outlet. 220.52(B) says you must include 1500 VA in your feeder or service calculation, to account for the laundry circuit. I don?t see any way out, for a new dwelling unit.

However, for an existing dwelling unit, you don?t have to do a ?start from scratch? service load calculation. If you plan to remodel or to add new loads, there are other choices available. But if you are doing a service load calculation, then you have to include the 1500 VA laundry circuit, whether or not the dwelling unit presently has any laundry equipment.
