Geo Click to expand... I wouldn't call it a modification, however, (there is always a however in life), read 406.4(D) regarding replacements. The receptacle may need to be AFCI protected depending on your code cycle.

chicar Senior Member Location Lancaster,Pa May 23, 2017 #3 in my area if you are not installing new wiring, than AFCI is not necessary. Replacing a receptacle of like is no code violation.
