It was not there in the 1993 version; it was there in the 1996 version.

The odd thing, however, is that the revision marker (line along the left edge) does not cover the entire article in the 1996 version. That, I cannot explain.

Because it was part of 210-24 in the '93.
The use of the word "common" first showed up in '96. Prior to that, it only prohibited using circuits of a dwelling unit anywhere outside that unit. That requirement first appeared in the '84.

Remember, Charlie, code sections get renumbered on occasion. ;)
