1.) NEC Section/Paragraph: 210.70(A)(3)
2.) Proposal/Comment Recommends: [revised text]
3.) Proposal/Comment: Revise the text as follows:

(3) Storage or Equipment Spaces. For attics, underfloor spaces, utility rooms, and basements, at least one lighting outlet containing a switch or controlled by a wall switch shall be installed where these spaces are used for storage or contain equipment requiring servicing or replacement. At least one point of control shall be at the usual point of entry to these spaces. The lighting outlet shall be provided at or near the equipment requiring servicing or replacement.

4.) Substantiation: The use of the term "servicing" is fairly specific to equipment that will remain in place and be worked on. This would clarify that equipment that cannot be serviced (only replaced) also qualifies. Radon mitigation pumps, sump pumps, and other such equipment are examples of equipment that would be included under the new wording.

Reword your phrasing to drop servicing to service, and an add.

Storage or Equipment Spaces. For attics, underfloor spaces, utility rooms, and basements, at least one lighting outlet containing a switch or controlled by a wall switch shall be installed where these spaces are used for storage or contain equipment requiring service. At least one point of control shall be at the usual point of entry to these spaces.

A means of additional lighting shall be provided at or near any equipment requiring task illumation for service of equipment.

The words , servicing is not in the book, service and task illumation is.

At least get Task Illumination out of solely Heath facilities.

Sorry, your right, I read and posted to fast, the book doesn't define circuit in 100, I was searching for other words to qualify a thought, and "Service" is also incorrect.

I'll Stop
