NEC: Ok, just put a switch there then, forget the light.
NEC: Sam, you have to put in the lighting outlet, the luminaire is another mater. :p

No problem, how about some switched receptacles then? Except in the kitchen, hallway, and bathroom of course.

Re: 210.70 Remote Control ?

Just put in minimum receptacles, control one in each room with one switch (in the closet)via a contactor. In bathrooms and kitchens, install a 400w MH Hi-Bay (120v). (also via the contactor)

Send federal agents out periodically to make sure they have lamps plugged into all the switch controlled receptacles.

I don't see any violations here? Anyone else?

Of course, these would be used for strictly legal purposes, right?

The point I have been trying to make is that the NECs 'excuse' for requiring any type of outlet is protect us from electricity.

IMO it is odd that they are requiring us to install electricity in order to protect us from electricity.

It seems if I was drowning the NFPA would hose me down, if I was on fire they would pass the lighter fluid. :D

I know what you're saying Bob, and it's true.

Edit: The only cure for dangerous electrity is to use more of it. :D

Re: 210.70 Remote Control ?

If you use the same amount of positive electricity as you use negative, you will be in balance.(single phase only) For all you three phasers out there, you will have to divide yourself by 1.732

Re: 210.70 Remote Control ?

Does anyone have a good source for gas lamps and crytal radios?

Or we could make the code go "retro" back to the early 1900's when a whole house only need two 15 amp circuits for lights and one receptacle.

I hope you are not suggesting that electricians' would engage themselves in anything other than "strictly legal purposes", mon.

Would that really be more dangerous?

Nothing says you can't have more than that. But is it safer to have a fully populated load center?

Of course not. But hanging a 400 watt MH high bay in a kitchen is well, a little suspicious. :D

For some people that picture might be heaven, for me, I'd like to pour a few gallons of Round up on it.

Peter....

I consider you a friend, don't cause me to kill you. :( :D :D

Re: 210.70 Remote Control ?

That's weird. I had to track down the source manually and only after doing that it comes up here.
