In 2017 NEC 210.8(B) now refers to single phase receptacles rated 150 volts to ground or less. I am not familiar with a single phase receptacle being rated in this way. Usually I see ratings like system voltage they are rated for like 250VAC OR 125VAC. The reason I ask is I have an application with a single phase 250VAC rated receptacle on a 208VAC system. It is wired L-L with a ground conductor. Obviously either L to ground would measure approx 120v to ground, but this would not mean the receptacle is rated 150 volts to ground. I wonder if they are trying to say that my 250V rated single phase receptacle now has to have GFCI? Any ideas?
thanks!!
