i came across a question yesterday.=caculate minimum loads which will be used for sizing the feeders supplying 6, 6kw cooktops..

so here what i came up with, but i was wrong can not figure this one out.

column B

note#3

6 appliances

36*.43=15.48

test answer key was=12

I saw your thread a while back and come up with the same thing you did. But I don't do many resi calcs so I figured you and I are missing the same thing.

that's for dwelling unit or multifamily, did it specify that ?

if its commercial you can use 220.56 but it doesn't jive with the key either. sure you have the right code year book for the test ? might be a typo too, does the book have an errata web site ?

the question was from mh quiz based on 2005.i did use 2008 book, but i did not think anything got changed in that section.. must be typo --because i have answered about 20 feeder and 20 branchcircuits calculations and got all correct except this 1 .. my other questions came from jcr,and i used the range block method where possible..any body else use this method???i have not done any using 220.56,so if someone has time and could give example grasshopper would be thankful.

thanks guys

just made this 1 up for giggles and in hopes of someone telling me correct or incorrect.

220.56 this time

6=8kw ranges

48*.65%=31.2kw

is this correct??????????????????????????

Surf,
Are you taking a 'local' test?
I took a closed book test in 1980,
The local AHJ asked me questions about tables that did not exist!
(I think it gave him the say so on 'who' passed or not.)
I passed.

I politely asked him which questions I missed so I could look up the answers.
I don't like missing the same question again: once on a test, and twice in the field.

So, is this thread about a 'local' test?

it was 10 question free quiz on this site---it was a error --with answer key (i guess) every now and again it will give wrong nec article, but this is the first time i came across wrong answer key! if someone happens to see something i missed please speak up!!!!
