240 -- 120

Looked at a job today where there is a 240v 20 amp 4 wire receptacle and the customer wants a 120v 20 amp receptacle. I would like to "tap" off of one of the "legs" of the 240v receptacle to supply this receptacle.

Outside of a small imbalance what issues would prevent this installation if any?

Someone in the future may not know it's fed from a 2-pole breaker.

I would have to agree with sparky on this one. Even if you put the circuit number on the plate, they may not believe you when they see that it's one leg of a 2 pole breaker.
