Am I loosing my marbles or does 240.24 allow a residential main breaker panel to be mounted at 6'-7" to the center of the main breaker handle?? I've always had it in my mind that it was 5'-6" to CL. Has this been changed for 2005??

240.24(A) is new for the 2005 NEC, however it is the same requirement as found in section 404.8(A). This has been in the code for quite awhile. A few cycles ago, the requirements was 6'6" but was change to 6'7" to match 2.0m.

240.24(A) was revised to include the height requirement to the handle....but it's 2005 ~ not 2006...I'm sure you know we are on a 3 year cycle.

Thanks, I wonder how the 5'-6" got stuck in my head. Maybe from my first code book in 1981.Yeah, 2006 got it . I tried to edit but it didn't stick. I know one thing...there are alot of disconnects out there at 5"-6"
