Rsvetti, If you want to know if there is any load on the ground wire as a result of a 120V load, snap an amp meter around it while the circuit is under load.
(And not fed from the high leg for the test)

If the equipment is utilizing one of the phases to ground for 120 volts there will be current on the ground wire.

I would think, if there is no current, there is no problem! The entire load would be on the L2 & L3 phases, just like you want.
