My question has to do with the beat to death subject of concrete encased electrode.I am going to do a footing inspection this afternoon for a single family attached dwelling. This is the same thing as a duplex but they are separately owned.
Do I have the footing contractor leave a piece of rebar exposed in each property? The footing will be continuous through the entire structure. They will be separately metered. My concern is creating a path for current flowing through the rebar in the footing. My instinct is to have them stub out a rebar for each side.Just like the water, they will each have their own water service. It seems like we are grounding to a lot of things and it seems like we are creating circulating currents.
