if i needed a bulb above a fire extinguisher or above the master box outside or whatever id just use 120. what happens when the janitor replaces the burned out lamp with a 120 volt one?
But it does burn quite brightly for a few seconds...It burns out.
it may not be that you need a 277 volt lamp over a fire extinguisher....
perhaps you need a fire extinguisher under every 277 volt lamp?

You can do that with a simple diode in series with the load. It also reduces the brightness quite a bit.Any of you guys ever tried these:
