I think you meant 30A+. .
If it is a fractional HP motor and it isn't started automatically then no overload protection is required.
You have some options, some of which include protection integral to the motor, protection being provided by the branch circuit device or impedance protected motors, but you must still have overload protection for the motor.If it is a fractional HP motor and it isn't started automatically then no overload protection is required. A disconnect would still be required within sight of the motor and I would hope the breaker is a HACR type.
