I have two 4-way switches going to the same boxes. Feed on one side and switch leg on the end. I have run the first switches with 3/wire. Can I run the second set switches with just the travelers?

how would you get the neutral from the light to the feed?

I think you'll need to post a diagram or spell out more explicitly each box, what it contains, and what wire type you want to use between what pairs of boxes.

i have a BX feed coming into a 3 gang box to feed three 4-way switches, being switched from three locations for a chandelier, and sconces, and recessed lights. my first 3-way, 4-way, 3-way is run with a 3/wire cable which includes my neutral for all three boxes and my travelers for the first switch. (At this point I’m confident there is a neutral at every switching location). My question is: can I run the next switch with just 2/wire cable that includes just my travelers?

My thinking is, I can use the neutral from the first 3/wire cable to connect all the switch leg neutrals. I was told that this would create an imbalance and degrade the BX sheath over time. I personally don’t see it being any different than connecting all the switch leg neutrals in a 5 gang box with single pole switches.

Sorry, still not following your description. If you don't want to upload a diagram, how a description like this:

Box A has 14/2 supply, 14/3 to Box B, and a 3-way switch
Box B has 14/3 from Box A, 14/2 to the load, 14/3 to Box C, and a 4-way switch
Box C has 14/3 from Box B and a 3-way switch

Cheers, Wayne

Seems he's asking if he can send travellers and a neutral in one cable, then only travellers in the second cable, and share the one neutral

5 conductos in 2 cables

No, you will a single current carrying conductor in the sheath, IOWs, you will not have any cancelling of the EMF.

Thank you for the response. What is “IOW”?
