Your questions are obviously study questions and we will not answer them for you. You are welcome to post your answer along with the possible answers and how you came to the conclusion and we will help you from there.

I'd kinda like to know the answer.

All conductors on a 3 way switch are used.

Is this a real question or am I missing something?

I think they are wanting to know which conductor in the "circuit" is not involved in the three way switching.

Thats what I was thinking. I guess they used "3 way" just as a way to throw you off.

Thanks.

3-way switching doesnt use what conductor?

Think about what conductor is used for the switch to control the lights. This will tell you what conductor is not switched.

The high leg conductor.
Although this is a correct answer, I don't think it is the correct answer. :)

I can think of two that would answer the question besides the high leg...:D

And what two other legs it may be, we know at least one is being pulled. :D

Chicago 3-way or Carter system , both illegal. Anybody know any other names?

California. Farmer. Handyman. Illinois. Power Beyond. Hot-wired. Husband. Three-Wire-Hot. Switchback. And my personal favorite, Who-cares?-It works,-and there's-no-inspection!.

I've uncovered one that had a piece of insulation slid up onto each end of the bare ground conductor of 12/2 w/grnd rendering a 3 wire so that a 3 way could work... does that method have a name?
