Hi, This is my first post so bear with me. I am taking a adult workforce class and the lab I am working on is hooking up a 30 amp 4 wire tombstone plug for an electric cloths dryer. My lab partner and myself cannot find if there is a required or recommended height to install in a basement. Because a basement can be considered a damp area, we are thinking we should go 46" from the center of the plug. Does this sound right, we will have to explain to our instructor why we put it there. Any help and suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you mount it high you can pull it out without moving the machine but it doesnt look so hot. If you put it low try to put it in a spot where there is clearance for the outlet and plug on the back of the dryer.

No required height in the NEC, but about 30" puts it below the top of the dryer and can be reached from above.

I second this. This is typically how I mount my dryer receptacles.
