When Wiring a 30 amp Range outlet for a dual fuel range can I use a 30 amp Dryer outlet and Dryer cord? The directions for the unit state receptacle and cord must be range rated. What makes them range rated? The amperage ratting of each I would think but the outlet and cord both are labeled Dryer. I am worrying to much?

I don't think that there is a specific listing for range and dryer receptacles...as far as I know they are listed as power outlets. As long as the current rating and configuration is correct you are good to go.

As far as the cord, it appears that there is a common listing standard for "Power Supply Cord for Ranges and Dryers" UL guide information for "cord sets and power supply cords" (ELBZ)

I don't see a problem with it, as long as it is on a 30A circuit (i.e. breaker and conductor rating).

However, the problem per Code is if the directions say rec' and cord must be range rated, I think the smallest you will find is 40A to be completely compliant.

I always use Dryer cords. I have never seen any marking on a cord. The outer packaging is marked Dryer or Range so the average person gets the correct cord.

Even though the circuit is 30 amps you could still use a 50 amp receptacle and Range cord. I just don't see any reason to spend the extra $$. The other advantage with dryer cords is they are more flexible. Many of the dual fuel ranges give a very small window in the back the that the plumbers and us have to fit everything in to.

Make sure the dual fuel range is only rated 30 amp. My is rated 50 amps. I also agree that if the unit is rated 30 amps then a dryer cord and plug is fine.
