In the Nov 08 NEC questions & answers from M Holt, there was a question about more than 1 NM cable through a KO.

Here is the question and answer:

Q8. Can we put multiple NM Cables through a single knockout in a panel?
A8. No, cables must be secured to the enclosure with fittings designed and listed for the cable [312.5(C)].

I don't see any text in 312.5(C) that says I cannot put 2 ROMEX cables in a ROMEX cable clamp.

Can anyone clear this up for me??

Thanks.

It sounds like the question is asking if they can put a single nm cable thru the knockout without a connector. Thus his answer

Zinc Die Cast SE Cable Two-Screw Strap Type Connector
For connecting oval service cable to box or enclosure. 650-DC2 can used for 1 or 2 #14 or #12 cables.

Not sure if this helps

Ahhhh
After reading the answer again, I think you are correct sir.

It is sort of a trick question...
The answer just states that you need the proper clamp.

OK, I good wtih that.

Thank you Dennis.
BTW, have you taken all those photos of the turkeys??

I thougth you cannot even put ONE NM cable through a KO without a clamp??

You can't but that is the way the question is worded. The writer of the question may have meant to say more than 2 cables in a connector but that is not what they asked.

This past spring I watched a flock of Turkeys and geese come face to face wtih each other. Their paths crossed as they were walking by a stream.

They all seemed rather stunned and amazed.

Then they just went their seperate ways. They were throwing reproachful looks over their shoulders but they kept walking.
