And woe to the building engineer if a fire inspector walks in. :)

Most of us (generalization, please don't kill me :) ) don't look in to panels to see if there are breakers or not. If the FI sees the panel then he is going to require the working space, regardless of what's inside.

Our building guys adopted 90 and I know its used...I've heard the swearing. :D

For what is worth, the NFPA style manual paragraph 3.2.1.2 (my copy is from 2004) says the definitions of general words should come from Webster's Collegiate Dictionary.

Not from an Internet dictionary, huh? Anybody got a copy handy? ;)

Does it also say that we must pay attention only to the first definition listed, regardless of whether it applies to our situation, and that we must disregard any other definitions listed, even though they might be more relevant to our situation?

I don't believe I ever said to use or ignore a particular definition. In my first post I simply included the definition I was using and the source that it came from.

Today is when I found information that says the NFPA has a preferred source for definitions.
