360 degrees in bends

I don't think so. That section only lets you leave the equipment end of the flex unconnected. I often do as John said...completely remove the flex, pull the wire out of the end of the conduit and then install the flex between the the end of the conduit and the equipment.

Don, I do not see that John indicated that he removes the flex completely from the raceway.

I guess that could be what he does but it is not what he said.

What is this saying?

300.18(A)...
Where required
to facilitate the installation of utilization equipment,
the raceway shall be permitted to be initially installed without
a terminating connection at the equipment.

300.18 Raceway Installations.
(A) Complete Runs. Raceways, other than busways or exposed raceways having hinged or removable covers, shall be installed complete between outlet, junction, or splicing points prior to the installation of conductors. Where required to facilitate the installation of utilization equipment, the raceway shall be permitted to be initially installed without a terminating connection at the equipment. Prewired raceway assemblies shall be permitted only where specifically permitted in this Code for the applicable wiring method.

Bob,
On a closer read, he did not say that.

I do it that way and it is a common practice around here. We do not count the flex as part of the 360?.

I want to thank Iwire for reminding us of 300.18. I also want to thank the rest of you for your support.

The OP's question was vague enough as to allow for any 'yes, you can do it' answer to be abused .... and any 'no, never' answer to be misleading.

One problem with flex is that it's kind of hard to 'precisely' count your bends. I mean, do you count the droop between supports? At some point hackwork is simply hackwork. That you can pull your wires witout taking the raceway apart is a sign you're done it right .... if not, you've probably done something wrong. After all, you're not required to use the smallest conduit possible!

If one disconnects the flex from the motor or other termination and lays it out straight for the pull where are the extra degrees? One then coils, snakes, or otherwise adds bends to the flex and terminates it. Only after the pull is complete are the degrees added, during the pull there were no extra degrees only after the final termination.
