I need to add an aditional switch at a 4 gang box. Any creative ideas other than changing the box to a 5 gang?

Use a "stack" switch. P&S makes some nice looking ones that have all kinds of configurations.

We're still under the 05 Book here ken. What's the problem with a duplex switch under 08?

My bad.... it's not just the '08. It's if the two switches are on different circuits, you may have problems with 210.7(B).

Anyone else noticed that some stack switches lack a ground terminal?

Not yet... most of them I've installed lately have them.

Could it be they're making them with plastic all around, so there's no exposed metal that needs to be grounded?

Not the last few I've had. You may or may not know that the P&S 4-ways and stack switches, even thought they come in a P&S box, say Slater on the yoke. The last few Slater stack switches I put in did not feature a ground screw, but had a metallic yoke. I just worked through a bunch of Leviton one's that were the same way.

That will remain a mystery, just like why they still say "Slater" on them even though P&S bought Slater over a decade ago.
They must have had a warehouse full of yokes, already stamped out.

I think you can still buy Despard switches too. They're limited to 5 or 10 amps (I forget which), though. I think all the stack switches out are a full 15 amp.
