I think you can still buy Despard switches too. They're limited to 5 or 10 amps (I forget which), though. I think all the stack switches out are a full 15 amp.

Those are great when you need to build a Hollywood set to replicate anything pre 1970.

Despards are still listed in P&Ss catalogs, as well as their web site. They're in the "T" section of my catalog.

I still see them in service these days, and need to replace one occasionaly.

I do work in an office building built in the early 1990's, and they used momentary Despard switches for their low voltage switching of the lights. Three terminals, and they spring return to the center. Each switchbox has a 25 pair phone cable run to it in case more switches need added to a certain switching location.

Neat. I guess it does the trick.

As do I.

Has anyone seen the Despard triple stack that is two switches and a 3 prong receptacle? I saw one with a stainless steel plate. The clearance between the slots on the receptacle and the plate was practically a short circuit!

triple stack?

triple stack?

I've seen 2-prong receptacles in a Despard arrangement, but I'm not sure I've ever seen a 3-prong. Never noticed, to put it plainly. Only once in my life I saw a Despard dimmer. That was the one and only one I ever saw. If I ever see another, I'm taking the plate off to see who made it.

I need to add an aditional switch at a 4 gang box. Any creative ideas other than changing the box to a 5 gang?

What kind of box? :-?

I will not lower myself to the level of the juveniles in this thread, I will stick to the topic.

You guys could learn a thing or two from me. :D
